If you managed to snag one of those “Launch Edition” PS4s, consider yourself officially on the ball. If not, then not only will we not judge you, but you might actually have a different set of bragging rights. Amazon’s currently listing four new bundles for the console. The Knack and Watch Dogs editions come with their respective games included for $460, while the Battlefield 4 and Killzone launch bundles toss in one year of PlayStation Plus — nudging the price up to just 10 cents shy of $500. Perhaps of more importance, however, is that unlike the Standard listing, all the bundles carry that guarantee of release day availability, which — for gaming cred at least — is arguably priceless.

Man of Steel Official Mobile Game Trailer for iOS and Android

Man of Steel Official Mobile Game Trailer for iOS and Android

PES 2014 Trailer for E3 2013

Samsung’s mobile chief JK Shin hinted that the company would soon be announcing an Android-powered mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera, and now the Galaxy NX is all but official. In press shots appearing on a Vietnamese gadget site, the device is pictured with a mirrorless mount and a trio of NX lenses. Judging from the body, the camera is likely to be closer in size to a DSLR than Samsung’s existing CSC lineup, with a large touchscreen occupying much of the rear.

Hardware controls are few and far between, and may be limited to a shutter release, video capture button, top-mounted dial and a pop-up flash release, along with the compulsory lens release to the left of the swappable optic. It’s said to include Android 4.2, a 20.3-megapixel APS-C sensor, ISO sensitivity through 25,600 and 1080p video capture. Pricing info is still up in the air, as is an official announce date, which could very well be as soon as Samsung’s June 20th event in London. Hit up the source for a few more shots.

Not all iOS 7 features will be coming to older iDevices

Unfortunately, not all Apple devices will be getting the latest and greatest from Apple, and many of the older iDevices that are getting it, won’t be getting the full set of features.

Samsung officially announced its latest cameraphone running Android and it’s called the Galaxy S4 Zoom. It’s basically a hybrid between the Galaxy S4 mini and the Galaxy Camera, combining solid smartphone functionality with the versatility of a zoom lens and a proper flash.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom built around a 4.3” Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 960x540 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. Under the hood the smartphone sports a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 1.5GB of RAM. The hybrid has a footprint similar to the Galaxy S4 mini, but is notably thicker at 125.5x63.5x15.4 mm.

It’s also notably heavier at 208g, but that was to be expected given the much larger camera module and the proper grip.

The key selling point of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom though, is its camera, which has 16MP sensor, a 10x zoom and a xenon flash. It’s capable of 10x optical zoom, which is less than the 21x zoom of the Galaxy Camera, but has nicely sounding 24mm wide lens, which we believe is more important.

Sundar Pinchai, the relatively new head of Android since Andy Rubin’s departure, doesn’t mince words when it comes to his interest in iOS7. The more pessimistic among us wold say that he wants to copy all of the new features but he’s probably just curious like everyone else.

Well, we know what the controller and the Eye look like, we’ve got all sorts of details about what’s under the hood and we’ve even seen some games in action. What we haven’t seen yet is the PlayStation 4 itself. Well, thankfully Sony didn’t make us wait too long at this year’s E3 before fleshing out those little sneak peaks with a full on reveal. Shocker: it’s all black! Well, almost all black. There is a strip of purple dividing the mostly murdered-out tower. Like the Xbox One it’s a pretty unassuming looking console. Gone are the dramatic swoops and curves of the PS3, and so are just about any obvious buttons. The two halves of the PS4 are slightly offset and angled to create a slightly agressive profile when viewed from the right angle, but mostly it seems designed not to draw attention to itself — pretty much the exact opposite of the last generation of gaming platforms.

Sony has finally revealed release information about its PlayStation 4 console: that it plays used, lent or rented games with no restrictions and its price: $399. That translates to 399 euros, and £349 where applicable, or if you missed it, $100, 100 euros and £70 less than what Microsoft just announced for the Xbox One. There’s no specific release date or month yet, just “this holiday season” in the US and Europe. The official spec list confirms that for four bills, you get the system, a controller, USB, HDMI and power cables — but no PlayStation 4 Eye.

iOS 7 Features

iOS 7 Features

Watch Dogs - E3 Walkthrough Demo

Watch Dogs - E3 Walkthrough Demo

FIFA 14 Official Trailer | E3 2013

FIFA 14 Official Trailer | E3 2013

Describing it as “the biggest change to iOS since the introduction of iPhone,” he then played through a video in which Jony Ive described attention to design detail the Cupertino has afforded the next-gen mobile OS. In line with the rumors and speculation, the OS is much flatter and cleaner than ever before, but when Craig Federighi switched places on stage to offer an in-depth analysis, it soon became apparent that iOS 7 is a great deal more than a lick of paint.

Some have accused the fruit company of lacking innovation, but this time around, it is clear Apple has listened to some of the long-standing complaints and quibbles of those using the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.

Folders Expanded

One of the things iOS lacked prior to iOS 4 was folder functionality, and when it did come, it was limited. Apple continually boasts of how many apps are available over at the App Store, yet hitherto has only allowed twelve icons within a single folder, meaning one could only ever partially bring organization into their life. With iOS 7, folders have pages, allowing “hundreds” of apps to be stored within any folder. Better? We think so.

Notification Center

Speaking of significant recent features which have seemed unnecessarily limited, it was a matter of much bemusement that the Notification Center was a home screen-only affair when it debuted with iOS 5. Now, as well as having been given a visual makeover in-keeping with the rest of iOS 7, users will now be able to access all of that important information without having to unlock. Better? Oh yes.

Control Center

One of the primary reasons, or, at least, most commonly cited reasons for jailbreaking has been for the wonder that is SBSettings. It’s a go-to tweak for most new jailbreakers, and allows all of a device’s key functions to be toggled off / on with a simple tap. Now, finally, Apple has brought this feature natively with Control Center, allowing such elements as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Airplane Mode to be activated or shut down in a passive, functional manner by simply swiping up.

Multitasking

While Notification Center and Folders have been at least been of a reasonable level but simply lacked in places, multitasking on iOS has been a dud; nothing more than a poor imitation of what such a feature should represent to users.

With iOS 7, Apple is remedying this. True multitasking will work for all apps, and will, according to Apple, bring background updates to each and every apps. What’s more, in reaping these new benefits, you won’t have to forgo any of your precious battery life, so the new multitasking feature is, in theory, an all-round win.

What’s more, the new multitasking will pick up on your habits, and will strive to update your most commonly used apps while easing back on those you don’t. In addition, it will adapt to your network conditions, meaning if you’re stuck on a sub-standard Wi-Fi hotspot or out in the sticks, it won’t stretch your limited connectivity by trying to update; instead waiting for a strong connection to go about finding updates.

Siri

Siri is also getting a revamp. Along with a new voice, a new UI and faster search results, Siri is now ditching Google search for Bing. That might be a bummer for some, but hey, Bing isn’t that bad either. Also, Google is still the default search engine in Safari, it has only changed in Bing.

iOS in the Car

We’ve seen glimpses of how Siri will change the driving experience, having already brought Eyes Free to a bunch of production cars. Apple is expanding this with iOS 7, allowing users to essentially mirror an adapted version of iOS onto their automobile’s in-built display.

Users will be able to respond to read-out messages using Eyes Free, as well as the ability to flit between different menus without even having to look at the display and take their eyes off the road.

Camera, Photos

Post Instagram, any app or company associated with photography has bought into the idea of instant filters, and Apple is no exception. As well as a revamp of the Photos app, which makes everything just that bit easier to navigate, users will now be able to add filters on-the-fly, meaning no third-party apps will be necessary if you want that all-important sepia look.

AirDrop

AirDrop has proven a great way for Mac users to exchange files in the typically fluid Apple way, and now this feature is coming to iOS.

iMessage / FaceTime blocking

As the iMessage spam-fest rather overtly pointed out, there are no options for iMessage or FaceTime users to block unwanted or nuisance correspondence. With iOS 7, that will no longer be the case, with native blocking features allowing individuals to avoid iMessages and FaceTime calls from any individual they wish not to converse with.

Safari

Safari is finally getting a much needed update, and is now faster than ever before and also has a brand new UI, following the design pattern of iOS 7, naturally.

Switching between multiple tabs is now an eye-candy. Instead of a boring looking card style view, you now get a great Flip 3D (Windows Vista reference, if you’re wondering) like view for tabs, making switching tabs as easy as possible.

Wi-Fi Calling

To complete the round-up of new features and enhancements, Apple will also be introducing native Wi-Fi calling. Of course, you’ll probably have your own methods thanks to Skype, Viber et al, but if there’s one thing the introduction of iMessage has shown, is that if Apple throws it out there (despite cumbersome episodes of downtime), the market will almost certainly bite.

As you’d expect, the new changes were met with loud cheers, with most of those present at this morning’s WWDC getting on their feet to show their appreciation. Certainly, as a long-time user of iOS device’s it’s good to see that Apple has stepped its game up. Having faced what can only be described as a backlash from many of its users, the Cupertino has responded with what is unarguably the biggest change to iOS thus far.

Weather

The Weather app has also gotten a serious – and much-needed update. And we have to say, it kinda reminds us of Yahoo!’s recently released weather app, no?

Mail

The Mail app has also been updated, following iOS 7’s much “flatter” design guidelines.

Auto App Updates

It’s here! No more launching of the App Store to update your apps. Starting from iOS 7, apps will now update in the background, without user intervention.

Compatibility

iOS 7 will be compatible with the following devices: iPhone 5, 4S, 4; iPad 2, 3, 4 iPad mini and the latest fifth-gen iPod touch.

Availability

iOS 7 will drop this Fall (presumably alongside a new iPhone), and the first beta will be available to developers as of today. Of course, we’ll deliver any further news pertaining to iOS 7 as it arrives, so stay tuned to our coverage here at TheDuperTech
