Rockstar Games Announces Grand Theft Auto V Launch: Spring 2013, Pre-Orders November 5th

Rockstar Games sent out an announcement today concerning the release date for Grand Theft Auto V, the next installment of the Grand Theft Auto series. According to a post on Rockstar’s press site, along with a promotional poster featuring a familiar phone, GTA V will be coming out in Spring 2013 in a global launch. This launch will be for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 (though curiously not for the PC or the Wii U). Pre-orders will begin on November 5th.

The Spring 2013 release date might be familiar to you, as ads apparently from Rockstar and the British retailer Game were leaked to Twitter (and quickly silenced), so it’s good to see official word on the subject. In addition, Rockstar has announced that pre-orders for GTA V begin on November 5th, which is less than a week away. While you could guarantee yourself a game disk, we can’t imagine GTA V would be scarce in stores for very long.

From announcements and hints released in trailers, GTA V will take place in knockoffs California cities like Los Angeles (“Los Santos”) and Hollywood (“Vinewood” to Hollywood; what “Liberty City” is to New York). From screenshots we’ve seen, the city looks absolutely massive. Personally, I’d just like to wander aimlessly around “Los Santos” in the GTA-verse equivalent to a Porsche and cruise around as Hank Moody. Rockstar has been slowly revealing information about their upcoming game, and from the screenshots GTA V looks (at least visually) as solid as Rockstar Games‘ best.
